Who are you and what do you do in your band?
Julien : I'm the bass player and latest member. I used to play&sing in June DeVille (rock-grunge-punk / 2008-2012). I'm also the driver and the weed supplier.
Lisa: I'm one of the two guitarists, and founder of the band with Matt and Florent. I compose and sometimes write some lyrics.
Julien : Other band members are Nico (guitar, sample, songwriting, also plays in Peace Is Just A Break), Matt (vocals, lame jokes, facebook spam, also sings in Peace Is Just A Break) and last but not least Florent (drum, sweat, veganism, also plays in Kakothanasy and Dynamite Abortion).
When/where was your band formed?
Lisa: In 2009, in Lausanne, Switzerland
Why did you choose to play Death Metal?
Lisa: First of all, it's to let out some steam after school/work, but also to do agressive music, brutal riffs, and we love to play loud on stage.
Julien : I wish we’d play reggae but Florent can’t play under 200 bpm… We all play in different bands where we can express ourselves in other ways than brutality (except Florent, like I said, 200bpm).
How do you compose your music? Does only one guy do everything or does everyone contribute?
Lisa: Sometimes we jam riff ideas all together, but we usually compose at home. We use Guitar Pro to write everything down, share it on google drive and learn them at home. Lisa and Nicolas (the two guitarists) are the main composers but everyone adds some ideas and arrangements at the rehearsal.
Tell us about your lyrics, writing, inspiration etc.
Lisa: the lyrics are mainly about human nature, feelings, relationship, and society problems
Julien : Satan’s overrated ! Human beings are way more evil and make a good subject for dark lyrics !
Is there an ideology behind your band?
Julien : Anachronism isn't political though I believe music is great way to build awareness towards important issues (RATM and social rights, Gojira and ocean/wild life preservation, etc.) . Some of us are involved in various matters such as animal rights and the food industry in general, economical degrowth or basic income. Maybe we'll talk about it in future songs, who knows...
How do you see the state of Death Metal music these days in your country and in general?
Lisa: in Switzerland? Poor. I think there's not a lot of death metal bands. It's usually a mix of thrash/old school things, sometimes heavy sometimes folk... And there's more death metal/brutal death in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, (Like Carnal Decay, Oral Fistfuck, Virvum,...) and they are some really good bands!
Julien : Everyting’s about deathcore, djent or post-whatever nowadays. The three most active labels in the french speaking part are probably Heimathome (Deathcore, Metalcore), Hummus and Division (from folk to über-hardcore). I’m a great fan of Hummus’ work but, yeah death metal ? never heard of her !
What are your long term plans as a band? What do you want to achieve?
Julien : Play gigs as far away from home as possible. I think live performance is the most important/interesting part in playing music : discovering beautiful places, meeting nice people, drinking local brews, reaching levels of stupidity yet unknown to mankind, etc.
Lisa: I completely agree with Julien. Our goal is to share our music, to show what we like to play, and of course exchange with good guys. First we do riffs we like but the feedback is really important. I think we're always searching for a better quality of our songs.
Name an other Death Metal band from your country that everyone should hear.
Julien: Kakothanasy & Dynamite Abortion (Florent's other bands), Necroblation, Darkrise, Sounds Of Furry, Near Death Conditions...
Lisa: Virvum - they aren't really famous but they promise a new wave of good swiss death metal. Oral Fistfuck are really tight too, they have good ideas, awesome vocals and good stage presence.
Lisa : We’re planning a European Tour from Oct 15 to Oct 24. Drop us an e-mail if you want to see us in your town !
Julien : Learn more about basic income, it is the key to our survival ! no shit…
